In today's class, there was not a lot of talking by Mr.Paterson and instead, there was a lot of time for us to talk with our team and give ideas on ways to improve the school. We had given around 30 ideas at first and cut some out and are now at around 10. 10 is too much so we are still working on what can be possible financial wise, and figuring out what has the highest priorities. For example, we want more natural light in the classroom, and the best way to do so is to make larger windows. However, that would take a long time and a lot of money, so an idea was to first take off the blurring sheets that are on the windows. In Japan, so many houses and schools stick on a sheet to blur the windows and I do not think that that is very necessary. People say it is for privacy, and so that people can not see the inside of your house, but if there is something private, why not close the curtains for that period of time and have more natural light shine in. Just like that we were giving lots of ideas, and cutting them down and also thinking what we can really do, and not throwing the whole idea away but using part of it.
Towards the end of class, we decided what job each person will have in the team. The decision was pretty easy because it was very clear who would be most suitable for which job. However, after we had decided, it was hard thinking about what exactly each person would say. In Mr.Paterson's presentation, I was so interested in his presentation. This is not only because of the content itself, but also the way he had presented. It was hard to think of ways to grab the audience's attention and make them become interested. I also remember really clearly, that throughout the presentation, Mr.Paterson's body expression and the way he moved around the classroom and used people to give examples was very interesting and made me automatically be listening very closely. There were so many elements in his presentation that seems easy but is very hard when you actually try to do it and when you are nervous. I was chosen to be the heart of the team, so I need to think of ways to make the audience have trust in myself and be persuasive.
