One Of Us Is Lying (Ch.2-4)
Sorry for the delay on the blogs. My book hadn't arrived until a few days ago and I had a few issues with uploading my blogs.
Summary
Chapter 2
The chapter starts off with Addy as the narrator and everything is written in her perspective. (Throughout the book, the narrator is constantly alternating amongst the four students so I will write the name of the narrator in my blogs)
Addy calls his boyfriend but can't get out any words since she is so afraid. It turns out that Simon had a peanut allergy.
Cooper stayed by Addy until she was with Jack (Addy's boyfriend). Cooper and Addy were both still freaked out about what had happened. Jack drives addy home, takes care of her amazingly, and handles things well, making her think she does not deserve him.
Nate's perspective
After they are free to go out of the lab, Nate and Bronwyn get to the parking lot where the car accident had happened a few minutes ago.
Nate annoys Bronwyn and they sit down on the floor drinking alcohol.
Bronwyn says "I was really sorry to hear about your mom, my uncle died in a car accident too right around the same time."
Nate drives Bronwyn home on his bike, to her very rich house, and no comparison is needed to be made with her cars and Nate's bike. As Bronwyn walks up to her door, she receives a text from the school, being informed that Simon died.
Chapter 3
Bronwyn's perspective
The day after Simon's deaths, Bronwyn takes a seat in the back corner of homeroom feeling 25 heads swivel her way.
The news has reached everyone in the school by dinner time the day before, even without an update provided on About That.
The teacher read out an announcement saying that Simon Kelleher suffered a massive allergic reaction.
Everyone pulls out their phones checking About That, half expecting a notification for the juicy new updates.
Bronwyn remembering that Simon bragged about his big news waiting to upload it today.
Simon had sources all over school, people usually denied it or ignored it but he was never wrong.
Bronwyn was never featured, but there was one thing Simon might have wanted to write about, but it was almost impossible for him to find out.
Cooper's perspective
A few days later, the four students were brought to the principles office where a police officer revealed preliminary results of Simon's death. A large dose of peanut oil was ingested shortly before Simon's death.
Nate confronts the prank of a "dummy phone" in their backpack was played on him as well.
everyone hadn't been talked about on About That except Nate, therefore they accused Nate for the crime but he was never really bothered being talked about on the app and did not really have a reason to be mad at Simon.
The officer asked the other three if they were worried about ending up on the app.
Cooper replied in an unconfident tone, Addy gone pale as a ghost, Bronwyn flushed brick red
Nate watches them and says "Everybody's gots secrets, right?"
The officer was curious about what Nate was doing for so long in the nurse's office when Mr.Avery told him to go get Epipens as if he were hiding them before the teachers arrived.
Keely (Cooper's girlfriend shows up), at the same time he gets a text by an anonymous character asking if they can meet up, Cooper texts back"Miss you too" and puts his phone away.
Chapter 4
Addy's perspective
She kept thinking about Simon even days after his death.
Addy got the impression that Bronwyn didn't like Simon at all. When office Budapest talked about how Simon died, Bronwyn did not look sad.
Jake (Addy's boyfriend) is asked to be a pallbearer at Simon's funeral, since they use to be friends until Jack became so into sports.
That weekend, they had planned on going to the beach with a few friends including TJ, but Addy did not want him to come for reasons not known yet.
Nate
Nate belongs to a very poor family, his parents are never really home, and the house is so old it is crumbling. He has a part-time job spending four hours after school distributing plastic bags full of painkillers and drugs. He knows its nothing something he should be doing but its what gets him a few dollars and takes little effort.
Nate's mom does not live with him anymore, she was bipolar and not great about taking her medicine.
He also lives with a reptile named Stan that he received from his mother who never came back(ditched him).
Nate receives a text from his friend that has a link to a website.
It is a website written by someone anonymous and the article was named "About This".
It was about the scheme and plan of killing Simon, the article ended with "Let's face it: everyone at Bayview High hated Simon. I was just the only one with enough guts to do something about it."
Thoughts
I am so excited to read on because within just the first few chapters, there is so much more to each and every one of the characters and their relationships amongst them. At this point, I feel like there are a lot of lies and everyone seems pretty suspicious having some sort of reason to be mad at Simon. The way the chapters end is such a cliff hanger and makes me tempted to keep reading. I really want to know how wrote this anonymous article and if it was written by one of the four students that are suspected, I wonder who it is.
